The Confession
The crime is something which is very tough to hide but every criminal always tries to hide it.
If an investigator is capable enough to detect the evidence properly, any crime can be solved. But it depends upon your expertise and actual interest in solving the case.

When I was doing my post graduation, I had received a call from the casualty regarding an opinion in a case of electrocution. The patient was brought to the emergency with a history of being electrocuted last night at home.
The relatives and his wife were telling the story of whole incidence.
He lived with his wife in a one BHK flat in a North Delhi. They were married for last one year and they were living happily as per the history given by their relatives.
His wife told that they had dinner around 8 PM yesterday night and slept around 10 PM. When she woke up after a loud sound at around 3 AM due to falling of some heavy object, she went to the kitchen and noticed her husband was lying unconscious near the gas cylinder with a live electricity wire touching his right hand. She switched off the main switch and removed that wire. When her husband was not responding she started crying and asked for help from her neighbour.
Two young men came to help her and they brought him to the hospital.
I had examined him and he was having a wound resembling like electrocution injury over his right thumb without any other external injury on his body. Primary resuscitative measures were done but the patient died after few hours.
His body was brought for the postmortem examination.
I had collected all related documents including inquest papers and started the post-mortem examination. I have examine the body from head to toe and there was no external injury present except a 2x2 cm electrocution injury mark over right thumb. I have cut that part and preserved for the histopathological examination along with a control to detect cellular changes due to electrocution.
The investigating officer came along with few recorded statements and asked my subordinate to attach them along with other papers. I had checked those papers, there were two statements one of his father who told the police that his son had been killed and he requested for detailed investigation in the case.
The other paper was having statement of his wife who told the police that her brother was also there when she had seen her husband lying unconscious. This had not been mentioned in her previous statement and she added it when the police collected CCTV footage and a person was seen entering inside their house.
The investigating officer was dealing with this cases as a case of accidental electrocution.
When I had dissected the neck of the deceased it was a total surprise.
The underlying hyoid bone was fractured with extravasation of blood in the deep muscles of the neck with no external injury present. In simpler terms it was suggestive of neck compression.
This finding was very important and it has changed the manner of death. I discussed it with the police officer and asked him to interrogate the wife.
She hesitated but she had told the similar story again.
When I have asked the investigating office to call her inside the chamber and I have asked her a simple question.
"Tumhare Pati ka gala kisne dabaya" (who strangulated your husband)?
She was startled, started crying and eventually confessed right there.
She revealed the whole story and the case turned into a planned homicide.
Before getting married she was in love with Mr. R. Even after getting married to the victim Mr. R was continuously following her and asking her to be together.
Mr. R convinced her that they belonged together and they should get rid of the victim.
On the night of the incidence
On the night of the incidence
She invited Mr. R yesterday and when the victim slept they had strangulated him with a pillow. (that was the reason there were no external injuries present)
After strangulating him they created a false crime scene which was the idea of Mr. R to hide the detection of crime.
They moved the body of the victim in the kitchen, tied a live electricity wire to his right thumb and electrocuted the body.
The case was clear now and it was very surprising that the whole case was solved in a single day. A case which could have been dismissed as an accidental electrocution turned out to be a well planned homicide.
So, every simple or small finding can change the course of whole investigation.
