He strangulated his wife

It was a routine day and and around 10 AM, I have received inquest papers from a police officer who was investigating a case. He explained few facts about the case like, the body of a young female was lying in her house and the first information was given to the police by the sister-in-law of the deceased victim.

The investigating officer reached at the crime scene and noticed a female of age about 30 years was lying unconscious in her room. The body was packed and shifted to the hospital. There was no evidence as per the information given by the investigating officer. 

The female was declared brought dead in the hospital and her body was shifted to the morgue for postmortem examination. The inquest papers were collected and there was no significant history recorded in those papers. The postmortem examination had been started and it was found that the face of the deceased was markedly  congested and there was ligature mark on the neck. 

The ligature mark was horizontally placed and it was suggested of a case of strangulation. But as per the history given by the investigating officer there was no such ligature material present at the crime scene. We have collected the fibers of the ligature material from around the neck and examined them and preserved for comparison. 

The detailed examination of the body was done and the cause of death was strangulation means somebody compressed her neck with a ligature material. 

Now the questions were

Who had compressed her neck and where is the ligature material?

I have asked the investigating officer to keep the crime scene preserved and on the same day I have visited the crime scene. I have collected few materials i.e. a electricity wire, some blood stains.

I have noticed that somebody was sleeping there with alcoholic smell in whole room. I have asked the family members. They told that he is the husband of the deceased and he used to drink alcohol on daily basis. 

There was a towel around his neck which was appearing like that it can be a ligature material as its dimensions and fibers were similar to the recorded findings. 

I have preserved that towel and examined its fibers under microscope and surprisingly they were matching with the fibers of the ligature material. 

The findings were communicated to the investigating officer and the he had been arrested. 

On interrogation he initially created  false story but later on he accepted and told everything about the murder of his wife. 

The murder was planned and he had constricted her neck using the ligature material because she got to know about his affair.
